It sounds simple to choose the right white paint color for you home. How many shades can you find that have the same tone? There are many shades of the same basic tone. Dulux has enlisted the help of a number of trusted designers to help you select the best white colour for your home.
“We enlisted design advocates who live and breathe whites so that they can arm consumers the knowledge they need to make their selection process simple and enjoyable – showing them how they can get their white right first time,” Andrea Lucena Orr, Dulux’s Color Expert. She adds that “our aim is to examine how different elements, such as the natural sunlight your house receives, and the colours in your flooring, can affect how a shade looks upon your walls.”
White paint is the most widely used neutral paint choice, from greys and beiges to be exact. It is also the best backdrop for many interior design styles and home decor trends. All you have to do is grab a paint brush. These are the 8 most loved Dulux whites, and we love them!
1. DULUX NATURAL WHITE ™
White can increase the natural light in a home and can also improve the sense of space in small rooms . It is also an ideal neutral background for all types of interior design trends. Natural White ™ is perhaps the neutralest of all whites. Natural White(tm) is the coolest warm white. “Its versatility spans across new-and-old properties, contemporary homes as well as traditional homes,” says Sara Chamberlain, from The Real Estate Stylist. This is a great choice for anyone who is looking to give their home a makeover before selling.
2. DULUX WITE ON WHITE ™
One of the most popular whites used by The Three Birds Renovations is Dulux White onWhite(tm). Bonnie says that Dulux White on White(tm), has a touch bluegrey and is a cooler-toned, but not polarizing white. It still complements warmer colors, tones, and furnishings. It’s also clean and energising. These coolers are best suited for modern homes with timber or concrete floors, as well as hard surfaces like the kitchen and bathrooms. Style the space with timbers, blush-toned furniture and flowers to add warmth and texture. It is a simple colour so keep your styling minimal. White on White(tm), a clean colour, is great for skirting and architraves. It is especially good if it is attention-grabbing against a darkwall.
3. DULUX VIVID WITE(tm).
Three Birds’ Renovations favors cooler whites. Bonnie states that they don’t use too much yellow or blue. Dulux Vivid White(tm), as it sits in between, is the perfect choice. This white is crisp and pure and is the purest you can find. She recommends that it be styled with layers of whites and textures. If we do add pops of colour, such as blush, pink, or soft greys to the space, it will be done through artwork or furniture. We like to keep the space consistent when renovating. This means that we paint the same colour on all trims, ceilings, and walls. The sheen is adjusted by us, but we use semi-gloss on skirting and architraves and a low sheen for walls.
4. DULUX LEXICON (r)
Lexicon(r), a cool, contemporary white, is the best choice for you. This “bold” white looks great with polished concrete, exposed brick, and timber flooring. It is a perfect shade for displaying your artwork collection or bouncing around lots of natural sunlight,” says Amy Chamberlain-Primrose, from The Real Estate Stylist. It can look grayish in shadows if there isn’t much natural lighting.
5. DULUX LEXICON(r), QUARTER
Lexicon Quarter is similar to Lexicon full strength but has cool tones with a more blueish undertone. It is ideal for minimalistic interior designs and contemporary spaces that only use a few bright colours. It is also well-suited for Scandi-style homes with blue, grey and cooler tones.
6. DULUX WHISPER WHITE
Whisper White, a warm and soft white for interior walls, pairs well with heritage properties as well as classic interiors. It will enhance the rich tones of polished mahogany and other elegant materials without competing.
7. DULUX ANTIQUE WITE U.S.A. (r)
Julia Green from Greenhouse Interiors says that “Antique White U.S.A. (r) is my favorite of all whites because it is crisp and fresh without being clinical and austere, and can work in any space despite varying conditions.” It’s a complete all-rounder that never disappoints!
8. DULUX HOG BRISTLE(r), QUARTER
Julia loves Hog Bristle(r), Quarter, on the other hand. Julia believes the classic shade is “a beautiful, warm white with the slightest hint of ‘biscuit’ undertone” – this has been her go-to color when creating cozy spaces. This colour works beautifully in both heritage homes and lofts, which helps to avoid austerity. Hog Bristle can also be used in the recent revival of the neutral palette with interiors that include all shades of sand or beige.
