It’s not difficult to decorate your home. Here are some inside decorating ideas to help you style your home, like a pro from Jacinta Preston, the interior designer.
HOW TO FIND YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN STYLE
“Style & Error” is a fundamental way to solve design and interior decorating problems. Style & error is repeated diverse attempts until you find the right style. You can make it as chaotic or as systematic as you want. This is not a static or finite thing. The “Style & Error” operation will continue throughout your entire life. Every new phase of your life or property will challenge you to rethink your style ideas. This is the most fun part. Enjoy it!
CREATE A DESIGN BREAKFAST
It doesn’t matter if you’re your designer; it is important to follow a process. The design brief is the first step. Good design briefs should be focused on the result of the design. The scope of work is also known as a design brief. This brief includes information about all project elements, a shopping list with needs and wants, and ideas for the budget and timeline. It is easier to create a design brief for each room.
You can draw inspiration from many sources. I love to brainstorm everything. I mean all my possibilities, even the most ridiculous. Designers can keep up-to-date with the latest products and ideas through trade shows, magazines, journals, and trade publications.
MAKE GOOD USE of SAMPLES
A good sample is a great thing. Sample pot, cutting, brush out, and catalogue. A sample pot, cutting, brush out, and catalog is useful tools. They indicate possible options and a collection that is worth considering.
This sample is used as a reference in many other materials. The samples will be used to record all the selections made during the project’s development. Keep at least two samples. One is the “working sample”, which can be used to refer to color and texture throughout the project. The other must remain in the master file. This will allow you to quickly access the code and color numbers whenever you need them.
Always order 3-4 meters more fabric after choosing a fabric. This is your insurance policy. You will receive the fabric in the same dye lot that you ordered. This means that if something happens, you can recover some large back or base cushions. You can order enough fabric from your sofa or chair to make a blanket covering the couch or chair. It can be used every day on the sofa and easily removed at any time to reveal clean, hairless furniture.
LAYER YOUR LIGHTING
Interiors with great design have a range of layered lighting customized for different times, events, or moods. There are three types of lighting required for most rooms: task, accent, general. Ambient lighting lights a room in a uniform way.
Accent lighting is used in accent lighting to highlight a room’s unique features. It would help if you tried to illuminate the majority of your space with various lamps and lights, most of which should be fitted with dimmers. Don’t forget the downlights!
EXPERIENCE IT BEFORE YOU BUY
Many shops and suppliers allow you to take artwork and rugs home for “approximation”. Artwork and rugs are two of the most sought-after “try before buying” items. It’s almost impossible to find a great rug without seeing it in situ. There is one exception: Buying the rug you love and creating the perfect space around it.
UNDERSTAND YOUR SPACE
It is easy to visualize the large space (or even in a shed). To replicate the volume, include the most important furniture pieces. You can use real pieces or stacks of cardboard boxes. This process can also be assisted by masking tape or chalk. It is important to determine what you are looking for and where you can cheat.
CONSIDER FURNITURE & FLOW
A generous corridor should be allowed in a room to make it easier to move about and pass people. This generosity can also be applied to your garden path. You can study the movement patterns of your floor plans and use different colours to trace possible routes. You can make a room feel more comfortable by changing the arrangement and orientation of the furniture.
SAVE TIME AND MONEY ON CUSHION SELECTION
These tasks require more time and more money. It is important to understand that the symmetrical placement of cushions creates a more structured and formal look. Symmetry works well in bedrooms and lounge areas, but I prefer to keep this look in the bedroom. Symmetry can often mean fewer cushions, which can be used to help manage budget constraints. Random cushions require more Style & Error testing (see point 1) than any other item. The cushion colours should be related to other items in the room. However, it is possible for the cushions not to match.
You can play with patterns, but you should limit your use of the same colours. You can use the same scale pattern or mix it up. Just make sure to include a few low-key or block colours for your eye to rest. Play with shape. Larger cushions should be placed in the back and layered forward to create a mixture.
KNOW THE SECRET TO GOOD CURTAINS
Order full-height curtains. Please do not order rods or tracks that extend beyond the ceiling. You can conceal the track with a recessed cover.
BE AWARE THAT CHAIRS ARE FOR INTERIORS WHAT SHOES ARE FOR FASHION
Shoes are the most important thing in an outfit. The same goes for chairs. Consider their accessories. These are the ideal design tools to give any interior life and style. While it is sensible to be cautious with expensive items such as sofas, dining tables and rugs, chairs are a great way to add style to any interior. Let loose. You can make faux fur, animal prints, velvet or vintage leather armchairs, but a chair must be comfortable.
CUT THE CLUTTER, CRAP, AND CHAOS
It will make your life easier. Your mental health will also be improved. Take a look at your home, one room at a time, and get rid of all the junk. Only keep things that are both useful and beautiful. This is the most important thing you can do to your home. It takes only a few hours (ok, maybe even a week). You can use the Marie Kondo method to take out all furniture, except the most expensive, and then “interview” the rest of the items before they are allowed back in. Do you feel at home here? Do you bring joy? If you don’t, then chuck it!
GOOD STORAGE IS KEY.
Space awareness is key. Make sure you “use” every inch of space. [joinery] is for lovers of magazines, books, ceramics and kitchen accouterments. The popularity of joinery is astounding and has inspired household displays all over the globe. You can design joinery, bookshelves and storage display units to exactly fit your needs.
